What a GLORIOUS day!  I have truly been blessed.  And today I rode miles and miles of the “ribbon” that God wrapped my presents with! It was a chilly morning in Espanola, NM.  And when I programmed the gps for our first stop – Pagosa Springs, CO –  the temperature said 37degrees.  Just so you […]

August 30, 2009

Our plan was to start out about 8 this morning.  I think we all had a good nights sleep.  And Julie took advantage of the guest laundry at the motel and washed all of our jeans.  I was ok with that. We  met a fellow rider at  breakfast.  She had left her husband at home […]

The sunrise was blinding in our rearview mirrors as we started to slice through the canyons of the Texas panhandle.  Cap Rock canyon and Palo Duro canyon seemed a bit out of place.  Rolling along the plains and, all of a sudden, “a big ditch”!  Turkeys, road runners and cactus! By 8a.m. we had already stopped so […]

So long to the piney woods of east Texas – at least for a couple of weeks. Hello to mesquite, cedar, scrub, and (so Mary doesn’t feel slighted) a cornfield or two. We left Texarkana a little before 7:30 this morning and dodged rain all the way past Paris. Yes, we stopped at the first […]

The bike is spiffed up, the tank has been topped off, we’re rolling our clothes as we speak. Have reset all trip meters and fuel guage to 0000. We start the first leg of our trip tomorrow… all the way to Texarkana. That’s OK… it’s a start!

Today… more prep! Still packing stuff… deciding what to take and what to leave. Started cleaning on the bike. That is always such a chore. Got it washed this afternoon and will shine/detail tomorrow. Not sure why I bother because by the end of the first day… it is ROAD GRIME GALORE!

Garmin International and I have become really tight!  Today the GPS  is working.  Let’s just hope it lasts.

August 23, 2009

For the past 2 days I have been engaging Garmin International about my Zumo 550.  This is the GPS I am using on my motorcycle and when it is working…  it is awesome.  For some reason, my laptop(s) are unable to communicate with my device.  Therefore I am unable to download the route maps I have […]

Hello world!

August 23, 2009

Ok… this is it.  You and I are officially traveling together!  This is my first blog and I will be learning as we go.  Please don’t be too critical of this newbie. Mary and I have logged approximately 40,000 miles on the motorcycle together in the past few years.  It’s nothing for us to travel […]
