Traveling on 2 wheels with us old broads…

leaving… on a jet plane

Yesterday Julie, KRay and DebbieLewis left us in Key West.  They were driving back to Texarkana.  This morning Kimmie and DT flew out really early.  Heard from all the gals today.  KRay and crew arrived home about 5:30 this afternoon.  Kimmie and DT finally made it into Texarkana about 7:00 this evening.  Seems their connecting flight in Dallas was cancelled and the alternate flight was about an hour and half late (besides being 3 hours later than the original).  Anyway, I’m sure they are all tucked in by now.  No one had to spend the night in the airport or call in sick.  I think a good time was had by all.

Mary and I left Key West this morning about 10:00.  Weather is still beautiful.  So it was another day with the top down.  Took us about 3 hours to make our way off of the keys…  actually about 3 1/2 if you count the time that we had to stop and shop (more shoes!!).

Found our way to the Art Deco District (aka – South Beach) in Miami.  Bumper to bumper traffic for miles.  Stop and go.  It really was worth it though as we were going slow enough to see all of the old hotels and other deco buildings.

We found our way off and on A1A several times today as we made our way slowly up the Atlantic coast.  Most times you can’t tell where one city ends and another begins.  But the architecture was telling a story of decades ago.

No time for lunch today so when supper time rolled around we were on the hunt!  Passed several interesting prospects but they were on the other side of the highway.  As we passed a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse we both commented that we had never eaten there…  so around we went.  The valet parking could have been a clue.  Or the notice on the door ‘”NO SHORTS, TANK TOPS OR FLIP-FLOPS” could have been another.  But I chose to ignore both.  That was probably a mistake…  one that cost us way too much money.  Just suffice it to say that you can enjoy a steak (with all the amenities) at Texas Roadhouse for less than half the price!  Yes, it was good but not good enough for me to try it again.  LESSON LEARNED.

We have stopped for the night.  I think we are in Pompano Beach although I’m not quite sure.  I do know that we are north of Ft. Lauderdale.  Not going to get in any hurry on the return trip but expect to be back in Camden by Wednesday or Thursday.  Ya’ll sleep tight!
