Traveling on 2 wheels with us old broads…

What’s for supper?!?

We made it to Abbeville for the night. Once we checked into the motel, we shed our rain gear and headed out for supper. Taking the advice of the guy on the ferry and then double checking him with the desk clerk and some other bikers out front of the motel, we went looking for Shucks. Not too far from the motel, there it was.

I really don’t know where to start… Mary or I, either one, had ever had grilled or broiled oysters. Guess what – we have now! We split an order of traditional char-broiled (w/garlic butter and topped with grated Romano and Parmesan cheese) and Oysters Shuck-a-fella (also char-broiled with a cream based topping with crumbled bacon and finely chopped mushrooms). May sound terrible, but they were delicious. My favorite was the shuck-a-fellas! UmmmUmmm.

That was just an appetizer. Now to the main course. I had the pan broiled shrimp, actually grilled in olive oil and butter with fresh crushed garlic, fresh squeezed lemon and parsley. Onion rings were an option until I found out they were frozen, not hand battered. Nix that idea. Grilled new potatoes worked just as well. Mary had the grilled seafood platter that consisted of shrimp, oysters and catfish. Tasty! Could have left with a generous doggy bag, but what are you going to do with it on a motorcycle?!?

Oh, and I didn’t even mention the corn and crab chowder that our server brought because she thought the cook was taking too long! It was also very good but there was just too much food!

I think we are headed to the McElhenny tobasco plant in the morning. Nothing like clearing the sinuses early in the day! See you tomorrow.

  4. Yep, love the blogs. Be safe girls! Mowed grass for several hours and the last hour with the mower deck in the “up” position. Could barely tell where I had been when I turned around. Well, Duh!!!! Guess I should not have stopped for lunch.
